It has a dual meaning. Self injury is generally seen in two views. People who understand it and people who don't.
People who don't understand it and don't try to understand it often think that it's just for attention. The "emo" trend doesn't help that stereotype. They think it's easy to snap out of, that it's something that can just be ignored. Problem is, SI is very addictive. But rather than trying to offer support, they'll dismiss it as trivial and just say "Help yourself" (amongst other unkind things).
But this also has a positive meaning. As a self-injurer, you can be supported, be offered advice and so on, but it's up to you to accept the help and advice, to cope with the realities of it and to, eventually, overcome the addictions and the triggers that are a part of the journey.
Technical shiz... this was a bitch to do. Even 3ply tissue is too fragile No one can say I don't suffer for my art ¬.¬
Aw, hope you're ok. You shouldn't suffer for your art
But... I do like it a lot. It's a great reply to my picture really. Mine was a silent plea for help, a bit negative and dark and creepy... where as yours is light and bright with a positive message. That;'s how I interpret it anyway.
I hear a lot of people complaining about their lives (and I know I'm guilty for doing it too), but things will only change if you want them to. If you stand up and say "This is not how I want to be and I'm going to do something about it." Not the usual "Woe is me, everything sucks, someone please fix me!"
I really do like this. I think the two pictures work really well together as a series, almost. I can imagine them following on. "Help..." to "Help yourself."
Thank you. I'm glad you like it, was a bit afraid that you wouldn't.
I have the problem where I say "This is not how I want to be, someone fix me" Although I'd attempt to fix myself if I knew how.
As for the suffering... well it was suffering in the sense I was getting impatient with the fact that the first wound bled enough for the screwed up version and then I couldn't bleed enough the second time until I did 3 more 'wounds' Was annoying.
Thank you again, for being such an inspiration

You show me a decent guy and I'll show you where the air goes in.
Yeah... It can just be particularly hard when you don't know where to turn and you're too afraid to risk change for the fear of failing or losing yourself.
I both did and I didn't. i was feeling rather depressed that night and then I was inspired. It was a bit of a 50/50 there
